A Word From The Principal…

STAR testing will be coming up next week. Along with the importance of getting a good night's rest and a hearty breakfast is having a talk with your student about doing their best. The 7 th and 8 th grade scores are used by high schools to help determine placement in classes for the 9 th grade year and the tool that the state uses to rate the job that our schools are doing. We feel that the students and staff are doing a great job here and we want that to show.

We are now looking for family members who are interested in assisting with the end of the year parties for the seventh grade and eighth grade students. The seventh grade students on June 10 go to Strother Park in Arroyo Grande for a BBQ and then onto the Mustang Water Slides for a few hours on the slides. The eighth grade students go to Boomers followed by a BBQ at Pioneer Park on June 11. If you are interested in helping out or donating for our events, please reply to this email. Thank you to the families of Brittany Balaam, Corina Posada, Samuel Castillo and Sam Albrecht for already volunteering support.

May 15 will be a minimum day for seventh grade students as incoming 6 th grade students come to campus for a visit. The eighth grade students will go that afternoon to Righetti High School for an orientation. It is not a minimum day for eighth grade students, so those attending another high school next year must go on the Righetti tour unless they are signed out by a parent by12:25.

YEARBOOK

Yearbook sales are taking place online at the Lakeview website and there is a box in the front office to deposit checks into. The price is $37 through the end of the year. Upcoming sales on campus are:

May 20 - May 23 $37.00

Other News:

Student daily planners (assignment books) are being sold in the office for $3.00. A planner is an excellent way for students to stay organized and a way for parents to see what is expected in each class on a daily basis. All teachers require students to have a planner. Planners can also be purchased at many local stores. A planner should be three-holed punched so that it can fit easily into the student's three-ringed notebook.

On-going News:

Lakeview Junior High School Does Not provide outdoor supervision before 8:30 a.m. or after 3:30 p.m. Students should not arrive at school before 8:30 a.m. unless they have a legitimate reason to be on campus. Legitimate reasons include: meeting with a teacher or administrator and/or attending a sport practice. All other before school activities on campus, such as band and detention, begin at 8:00 a.m. and the student is under adult supervision. Students arriving on campus before 8:30 a.m. without a valid reason are subject to disciplinary action. Our concern is for student safety.

At the opposite end of the day, for the same reasons, students are to leave campus no later then 3:35 p.m. Please make the necessary arrangements
