OVERVIEW
LAKEVIEW JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL is a 7th and 8th grade junior high with a student enrollment of approximately 660 students. Lakeview is a school with focused goals, high expectations, and a well-developed sense of the importance of education. Our VISION is that all students at Lakeview Junior High will experience equal access to a well-balanced, challenging education designed to prepare them to think, communicate and achieve to their fullest potential academically, socially, and personally. Lakeview’s MISSION is to ?cooperatively build a foundation of excellence? for our students. We feel that our rigorous and challenging curriculum prepares our students to achieve at the high school level. As part of a standards-based district, Lakeview endeavors to insure all students have the opportunity to achieve our high academic standards, and that assessment should fairly measure student achievement of these standards and program effectiveness. Educating the whole child is Lakeview’s highest priority, and toward that end we constantly revisit our school-wide vision and departmental goals and targets.

LAKEVIEW JUNIOR HIGH provides an interdisciplinary approach to education that is designed to meet the multiplicity and diversity of needs facing middle school students today. While academics are our focus, we endeavor to address other concerns through student support teams, all-teacher conferences, individual and group counseling, after-school sports programs (basketball, volleyball, and track) , an after-school homework program, dances, performing arts and assemblies. The needs of multi-cultural students and students that speak limited English are addressed through our English Language Learners Program (ELL). Education is seen as a team effort including teachers, students and parents, as demonstrated through our commitment to working with the School Site Council, the PTSA and the ASB.

LAKEVIEW JUNIOR HIGH earned the honor of being named a NATIONAL BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL OF EXCELLENCE in 1998. We also received our fourth CALIFORNIA DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL award in 2001. We are very proud of the education we offer at Lakeview.
